1979, 1983, 1984, 1985 Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill
1976, 1983, 1985, 1986 Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Gravelly Meadow
1978, 1983, 1985, 1990 Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace
1 bottle each (12 total)
Al and Boots Brounstein found their Napa Valley “dream” property high up on Diamond Mountain in
1967. Upon clearing the land, Al observed the distinctly different soils with varying exposures that existed in close proximity to one another throughout the landscape. Al was an early visionary in the Napa
Valley and appreciated the value of terroir even though it was not a well understood term at that time in
Napa’s history. Al established Diamond Creek Vineyards the following year in 1968 defying conventional wisdom by capitalizing on the divergent soils and deciding to vinify, bottle and label the wines of each
area of the vineyard separately rather than blend them together. This form of vineyard designation was a
definite departure from the way things were done in Napa Valley in the 1960s and 1970s and set a path for the future. This collection represents all three of the major Diamond Creek vineyards from three
sensational decades. When enjoying these wines the winning bidder will capture a sense of history while
observing how the glorious effects of maturing vines, winemaking development and time in the bottle influence the development of truly great wine.

1986 Chateau Lafite Rothschild
1986 Chateau Lafleur
2003 Domaine Leroy Richebourg
2003 Domaine Meo-Camuzet Richebourg
1 bottle each (4 total)Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy needs no introduction to anyone familiar with the icons of Burgundy. She is a leader in the international biodynamic growing community and a tireless perfectionist about producing some of the world’s finest wines from far flung Appellations throughout Burgundy. The wines of Domaine Leroy are always highly regarded in every corner of the world and known to fetch premium prices on release and at auction. The Méo family has devoted itself to winegrowing and winemaking for more than four centuries in Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. In 1981, the Camuzet Estate was christened Domaine Méo-Camuzet by Jean Méo with the first vintage of estate wines released under this name from the excellent 1983 vintage. The wines of Méo-Camuzet are always in high demand and universally deemed among the finest of Burgundy. Chateau Lafite Rothschild dates back several centuries and is widely regarded among the most collectable wines of Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Originally named to First Growth status in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Lafite has continued as the hallmark of this legendary wine producing area. Chateau Lafleur sits across the Gironde on Bordeaux’s Right Bank in the commune of Pomerol and in the shadow of Chateau Petrus. Lafleur is typical of Pomerol’s small and focused vineyards with only 10 acres planted comprised of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. There is an average production of only 1000 cases of the Grand Vin produced per year to satisfy a thirsty and committed worldwide demand. A priceless collection of some of the world’s most sought after wines!

Here’s your ticket to spend an afternoon with a producer of some of the most sought after wines and grapes in California – Gary Pisoni. Described as “the new face of American Pinot Noir” and “Burgundian-crazy about his vines,” Gary grows grapes in the Santa Lucia Highlands using meticulous viticultural practices. Over the last 30 years, he has transformed the mountainous property where his parents once grazed a couple of horses and few head of cattle into one of California’s most renowned vineyards.

You are in for an experience like no other when you join this big-hearted bear of a man with a childlike wonderment of how much fun life can be. Gary extends an invitation for your party of TEN to join him at Pisoni-land (“better than Disneyland because you drink wine on the tour”) in the Santa Lucia Highlands
(south of Carmel and on the western slopes of Salinas) for an afternoon of vineyard and cave tours followed by lunch. The day will begin with a jeep tour of the estate – hold onto your hats – and conclude with a candle lit lunch in Pisoni’s fabulous multi-level cave. See for yourself why some of California’s finest Pinot Noir vintners like Peter Michael, Patz & Hall, Siduri and Testarossa are scrambling for grapes from Gary Pisoni’s vineyard. Gary promises that during this fun-filled afternoon some of California’s finest Pinot Noirs will be poured for all to enjoy. See for yourself why some of California’s finest Pinot Noir comes from Pisoni Vineyards. Valid to 5/20/18, at a mutually convenient time.

In 1982 after an extensive search for the perfect California vineyard property, Sir Peter Michael purchased a 630-acre parcel just north of Calistoga consisting of volcanic ridges along the western face of Mount St. Helena. The first red Bordeaux grapes were planted a year later and the legend of the Peter Michael Winery began. The winery is focused on producing world class single vineyard wines in the Old World style that concentrate on depth, balance, elegance and structure. From the beginning, Sir Peter’s goals were three-fold: “One, the vineyard terroir would be the single most important feature. Two, the wines would be elegant rather than overstated. Three, there would be a hundred-year commitment to the development of a great estate.” Although these goals are evident in all Peter Michael wines, they reach even higher peaks in Les Pavots. This flagship Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux style blend is accented with roughly equal parts of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with a touch of Petit Verdot. 2004 was the first in a string of four exceptional vintages in the North Coast wine growing area. Each vintage expressed its own personality and 2004 was perhaps the most opulent of all. Forward fruit with extraordinary depth and luxurious mouthfeel were all descriptors associated with the vintage and Les Pavots expresses these characteristics in classic style. Rated by both Parker and Tanzer at 93 points on release, this memorable wine has continued to develop beautifully in the bottle over the last decade to classic levels expressing the breed of the vineyard and the vintage. The signature of Les Pavots is quite evident in this bottling and truly unique in the world of California’s best wines. A beautifully etched double magnum and true collector’s prize that is rarely seen.

Plus: A private tour, tasting and wine pairing lunch prepared by winery Chef Sarah Heller for EIGHT

In 1982, after a six-year search, Sir Peter Michael and Lady Michael purchased 630 acres of volcanic ridges on the western face of Mount St. Helena in Knights Valley. Drawing inspiration from the great wineries of Burgundy and Bordeaux, the family hired like-minded viticulturists and winemakers to help them create terroir-driven wines that would stand the test of time. Peter Michael Winery is dedicated to the production of handcrafted artisanal wines that reflect the terroir of the individual vineyards.

Here is an 8-magnum collection of both Les Pavots and vineyard designate Chardonnays. Les Pavots is Peter Michael’s flagship blend of red Bordeaux varietals from the Knights Valley Estate. While the blend varies from vintage to vintage, typically it is two thirds Cabernet Sauvignon with roughly equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot. Les Pavots captures an elegant refined expression of the terroir embracing the full spectrum of Cabernet family varietal expression with its trademark touch of Herbes de Provence.

La Carrière is the steepest rockiest vineyard on the Knights Valley estate. Typically, La Carrière offers the leanest most citrus like fruit profile with vivid “liquid minerality” that speaks of sea salt and wet stones. Mon Plaisir is the original Peter Michael bottling, produced every vintage since 1987. Historically the wine has been 100% Old Wente clone featuring a rich lemon custard and brioche nose with a silky mouth feel. Located just next to La Carrière, Belle Côte is a contrasting site with thicker soils and an eastern facing exposure. Typically, this wine produces the broadest fattest fruit profile with dominant orange peel, tangerine and marmalade flavors accented with exotic lychee and the estate’s signature wet stone mineral character. At the highest elevation on the estate Ma Belle-Fille is an extension of the same slope as La Carrière, sharing its southeastern exposure and lean soils. Ma Belle-Fille also shares La Carrière’s core of lean citrus flavors and vivid minerality, but with layers of baked apple and nectarine rounding out its profile.

Completing this lot is an invitation for you to bring seven friends and fellow wine lovers to Knights Valley for a rare opportunity to tour, taste and dine at the private estate of Sir Peter Michael. Closed to the public, your private experience will start with an extensive tour of the winery’s estate vineyards. Next, enter the winery for a sit-down tasting of estate grown wines and a sumptuous multi course lunch prepared by winery chef Sarah Heller complemented by a selection of Peter Michael wines. Valid to 5/20/18 at a mutually convenient time.

“Deep on Pico, in the area of West LA right by the Westfield mall, hidden behind a nondescript Teriyaki facade, lies LA’s most secret restaurant, Totoraku — aka Secret Beef. There’re no reservations — someone who’s eaten there before must invite you, with the chef’s permission. If you can get a seat, expect a competitive BYOB situation and round after round (after round) of delicious red meat.” Jay Weston – Huffington Post

Rumored about by every obsessive food-lover, it’s always described as “that secret Japanese steak house on Pico.” Totoraku is Yakiniku cuisine. Yakiniku, meaning “grilled meat”, is a Japanese term which, in its broadest sense, refers to grilled meat dishes. What’s the attraction? Certainly, it’s not the atmosphere, which is a deceiving storefront on Pico Boulevard. It looks closed and gated, although there is an “A” health rating in the window…but if you knock on the door and mention the name of your host, the charming Japanese woman (Shizumi, wife of the chef) opens the door, holds the curtain aside, and you enter.

When he opened Totoraku, Chef/owner Kaz Oyama decided to pay homage to the secret restaurants his parents took him to as a child in Japan… no signs, no reservations, entry just by invitation, very special food. Now Toto-raku, as he renamed it, serves a kaiseki or multiple course meal of beef, a third of it raw, the rest cooked yakiniku style. There is no website, Twitter, Facebook, Open Table. No email, no walk- ins. The only way to get in is to call the private number on the card which Kaz gives to favored customers and their select friends… and to get a card at the end of your meal from the smiling, black-haired energetic Kaz is the ultimate sign of acceptance.

Tonight, your party of SIX (plus hosts Eric Gitter and Kevin Jones, proprietors of Epicurus Gourmet) is invited to experience this “secret beef restaurant” for what promises to be a truly memorable dinner. Subject to availability at a mutually convenient time.

We all know that anyone who meets our Grace Rose falls in love with her. Well, that’s exactly what happened when live event artist, Taylor Gallegos, met our Winemasters ambassador.

Artist Taylor Gallegos captures the scene of your choice, creating a painting live throughout the duration of an event. The painting becomes a beautiful lasting memory of your celebration. A one-of-a-kind heirloom masterpiece for generations to come. Hours prior to Winemasters 2017 “official” opening, Taylor began the composition, capturing the lighting and feel of the Mid West Street back lot. As guests arrived, the scene within the painting was well underway. Throughout the evening, you may have noticed Taylor painting Grace Rose with all her joie de vie.

Now, Taylor would like to offer his gallery quality painting that forever captures the essence of Grace Rose and Winemasters as our next auction lot up for bid. This painting is indeed a priceless treasure just like Grace Rose!

4-Day, 3-Night holiday for FOUR especially designed for you by Winemasters Honorary Chairman
Frank Ostini
Valid to 5/20/18 at a mutually convenient time.
Even if you have visited the Santa Ynez Valley, you’ve never seen it like this! Our esteemed and beloved Honorary Chairman Frank Ostini has fashioned a holiday for FOUR you’ll never forget.

Frank Ostini a chef of Hitching Post II fame and Gray Hartley, a fisherman, make handcrafted Pinot Noirs from vineyards in Santa Maria Valley and Santa Rita Hills. The Sideways movie really put this label in the limelight but these two terrific partners deserve all the notoriety they receive and the quality of their
Pinot Noirs justify the publicity.

The picturesque Santa Ynez Valley encompasses six communities clustered closely together like wine grapes. From the charming, tiny gem of rural Ballard, the bustling gateway city of Buellton, the vintage western town of Los Alamos, the arts-influenced wine-infused town of Los Olivos and the turn-of-the-
20th-century township of Santa Ynez, to the northern European atmosphere of the city of Solvang founded by Danish-Americans in 1911, it’s relaxing and refreshing to meander and experience them all. The Santa Ynez Valley truly does feel like a world away with endless possibilities. The Valley features both large estate vineyards and small boutique wineries and is a mecca for foodies. Here are the highlights of this spectacular wine and food adventure:

• 4-Day, 3-Night stay at Jim Clendenen’s hilltop Rancho La Cuna ranch home in Los Alamos Valley.
• Dinner at Angel Oak at Bacara Resort & Spa in Goleta where Chef Vincent Lesage has created a culinary experience that takes a modern approach to the traditional steakhouse. All set against a stunning ocean backdrop.
• Dinner at The Gathering Table at Ballard Inn where Chef Budi Kazali prepares his award- winning gourmet cuisine. This AAA Four-Diamond rated inn is set against quaint and scenic vineyards and orchards in Ballard.
• A special home-cooked “Hitching Post BBQ” dinner prepared by Frank Ostini that features a cooking class on “Santa Maria Style Barbeque” and a selection of Hitching Post Wines. About Hitching Post wines: Frank and his partner Gray Ostini believe that great wines are made in the vineyard. The Hartley-Ostini winemaking philosophy is that they are caretakers who guide the wine into the bottle. As the wine matures it is simply left to gently age in the barrel. This minimalist approach allows Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post wines to reflect the character of the vineyard and the vintage, preserving the essence of the grape. A fitting example of these wines is the Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post Highliner. A special wine, it is meant to be the best of their Pinot. And, of course, Highliner became the featured wine in the film Sideways.
• Winery visit and lunch at Au Bon Climat Winery outside Santa Maria. Dinner for SIX in the vineyards at Moraga Estate
Plus: 1 magnum 2001 Moraga Red Wine
Valid to 5/20/18 at a mutually agreeable time
Moraga Vineyards is a wine growing estate in the Santa Monica Mountains at an elevation of 600 to 900 feet, five miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Los Angeles community of Bel Air. Grapes are not foreign to this canyon land. The overland expedition of Don Caspar de Portola, which established the route of the
California missions (El Camino Real), passed by Moraga Canyon in August of 1769. In his diary, expedition member Father Juan Crespi mentions a “profusion of wild grapes and Castilian roses in full bloom” in the canyon. Wild roses still exist on the property and are represented on the four corners of the Moraga wine label. From the care of each individual vine, to the selection and blending processes, to the hand labeling of each bottle, every effort is taken to produce wine of distinctive style and quality.

Moraga Estate’s talented Winemaker Scott Rich invites your party of SIX to join him in the Bel Air vineyard for a multi course dinner featuring cuisine created by Chef Joseph Manzare. No one has a more intimate understanding or closer relationship with Moraga Estate and its wines than winemaker Scott Rich. Since 1996, Rich has overseen more than winemaking and vineyard endeavors; he has also acted as
the Estate’s general manger. The wines of Moraga Estate are as much a result of Rich’s skilled craft and grape-growing philosophies as they are reflections of the Estate’s unique terroir. The vineyard is where Rich works his magic creating wines that have earned the praise of such renowned critics as Robert Parker and the Financial Times’ Jancis Robinson (who cited Moraga Estate as one of her favorite California wineries).

Growing up in the Bronx, Joseph Manzare started out in the restaurant business at 14. By 17 he was telling people he was getting ready to open his own place. He obtained practical experience in the kitchen of the New York Hilton and then, as executive chef at the Royalton in New York, he was nominated for a James Beard Award. For many years now, Manzare has been based in San Francisco, opening such highly popular restaurants as Globe and Tres. His focus is always on fresh, organically raised produce, as well as, naturally and humanely raised meats and poultry.

Winemasters Co-chairmen Cynthia and Wade Faerber are adding still another exciting component to this special dinner, a First and Second Growth Bordeaux from their personal cellar. And finally, take home tonight one magnum of 2001 Moraga Red Wine. The 2001 is a luscious wine that fills the mouth with a full viscous texture and finishes with a juicy persistence.

In the minds of the press and collectors alike, the decade of the 1990s will stand out as one of the greatest of all time for Cabernet Sauvignon and its Bordelaise “cousins” in Napa and Sonoma. With a strong kick- off in 1990 and 1991 followed by an impressive 1992, four stupendous vintages from 1994 to 1997 and finishing strong with a powerful 1999 – it was truly a decade for the record books. During the same time, many of the old standards in California Cabernet found a new footing and soared to greatness along with several newcomers rising to the occasion and providing an extra dose of competition to the widening field. 1997 was traditionally focused producing wines of elegance and power ranking alongside all the “big hitters” of the decade. The opulent textures shown in their youth were expressions of the great wines of Napa and its neighboring growing areas offering the perfect template for an impressive aging potential that has been evolving over the past 20 years. This magnificent aging curve has resulted in wines of great breed that are now just hitting their stride and for most, should continue over the next decade. This never- to-be-duplicated collection of 24 outstanding examples of the ’97 vintage features wines across the entire stylistic impression that Cabernet from Napa and Sonoma can produce. From the mountains to the east and west and valley floor from north to south, Napa Valley is well represented with the wines in this collection as are Alexander Valley (Peter Michael Les Pavots and Silver Oak) just to the north and Santa Cruz Mountains (Ridge Montebello) to the south. It would be hard to determine a cumulative score for these stunning wines but a guess of 2300+ would not be out of the question.

1985 Chateau Margaux
1985 Chateau Mouton Rothschild
1985 Chateau Lafite Rothschild
1985 Chateau Haut-Brion
1985 Chateau Leoville Barton
1985 Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou
1985 Chateau Lynch-Bages
1985 Chateau Pichon Lalande
1985 Chateau Latour
1985 Chateau Cos d’Estournel
1985 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion
1985 Chateau L’Evangile
1 bottle each (10 total)

This extraordinary lot consists of all five of the First Growths and a collection of the “Super Seconds.” All the wines in this once-in-a-lifetime collection came from recognized collectors and since release have been diligently cellared under ideal conditions. Bordeaux’s vintage of 1985 was sensational as it was in other highly esteemed European winegrowing areas. Frost damage in January was a predictor for a smaller more concentrated vintage. A stormy wet spring and hail followed in May. As the weather turned warm and dry for what was to become one of the hottest summers on record, fall saw absolutely beautiful harvest conditions from late September through mid- October. Even with the first reviews (while the wines were still in barrel), 1985 was seen as a stellar year in the classic Bordeaux style. Michael Broadbent was also impressed with the 1985s from the beginning, and when his first truly comprehensive tasting took place in April 1967, he raved with pride about the wines overall. In Broadbent’s The New Great Vintage Wine Book, he gave five stars (*****) to the vintage and to virtually every wine in this collection with only a few garnering four stars (****). With elegance and immense structural complexity, this collection rises to new levels in majestic style representing a vintage that is considered among the finest of the superb 1980s Decade. Broadbent said about the 1985s after his 1987 tasting of 69 wines, “Rarely have I made so many consistently good notes on so wide a range of wines…Claret at its ingenuous best.”

The Novak family has been growing wine grapes on their historic Spottswoode Estate since 1972 carrying on the tradition first established previously in 1882 by George Schonewald, a German immigrant who settled in Napa Valley during the 1870s. Schonewald christened the property “Esmeralda” before selling several acres to Frank Kraft who built a Victorian farmhouse and beautiful stone wine cellar, both later renovated by the Novaks. It was Mrs. Albert Spotts who named the property Spottswoode in 1910. Mary Novak and her family launched the Spottswoode label in 1982 on the 100th anniversary of George Schonewald’s first plantings with each vintage thereafter receiving rave reviews and accolades from the press and an extremely loyal consumer following. As stewards of their land, the Novak family pursues an elegant, balanced, and age-worthy style that captures the character of the vintage and the complexity of their legendary estate vineyard. 1995 and 1996 are two of the great vintages in Napa Valley from the heralded decade of the 1990s. The 1995 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon expresses a delicate balance and depth of structure typical of the vintage while the 1996 is more about the harmonious nature of complexity, mouthfeel and opulence. Both the 1995 and 1996 Spottswoode Cabernets, presented in rare 3.0L formats, are a tribute to their individual vintages coupled with the underlying thread of an historic property and commitment of the Novak family.
